Anaheim Convention Center to host job fair
The Anaheim/OC Job Fair and Expo will host 165 employers offering more than 2,350 jobs at the Anaheim Convention Center on June 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year, the Fair, which will include resources from the Anaheim Enterprise Zone, will utilize resources that have helped military veterans return to the workforce.
“The Anaheim/OC Job Fair and Expo has proved to be a valuable resource for both job seekers and employers, and we are proud to host the fourth annual event,” said Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait, who asked Mayor Pro Tem Harry Sidhu to conduct the convention again. “This will be a wonderful opportunity for those seeking employment, as well as employers needing to hire quality workers to take advantage of the face-to-face connection this job fair can provide.”
The State of California Employment Development Department (EDD) noted an 8.1 percent unemployment rate in April in the U.S. The figures in Orange County and Anaheim are 7.4 percent and 9.5 percent, respectively. The U.S. Labor Department reported that only 69,000 jobs were added nationwide in May.
Plenty of organizations will be focus on preparing veterans for their next career paths. Veterans First of OC will attend, along with the EDD, which specializes in Disabled Veteran Employment Services and Veterans Services programs.
The State of California’s Enterprise Zone program aims to strengthen economic growth by creating tax credits for businesses. The “EZ” in Anaheim includes almost all of the city’s industrial and commercial areas, totaling about 80 percent of the city’s businesses.
The Anaheim Convention Center will provide more space for employer recruiters, career-building workshops, resume reviews and computer lab areas for job hunters. It will take place in Hall E., and free parking is located in Car Park 4, off West Street. Admission and Wi-Fi are free, too. Pre-registration is available online, and employers should call in advance for booth reservations.
