O.C. International Auto Show brings 2013 models to Anaheim Convention Center
Hundreds of new and exciting cars, trucks and exhibits are now on display at the 48th Annual Orange County International Auto Show at the Anaheim Convention Center. From Oct. 4 to 7, many prospective car buyers will visit the Anaheim Convention Center to browse among 500 vehicles from the top names in automotive brands at this weekend’s show.
Jon Gray, chairman of the Orange County International Auto Show was very excited about the variety of vehicles. “It’s got everything,” Gray said. “Whether you’re into economic mpg or trucks and exotic cars, there’s something for everyone.” Gray noted the increase of Orange County car sales by 20 percent and expected a large percentage of the show’s traffic to be people in the market to buy a new car.
The show features numerous new models, from the Dodge Dart to the $450,000 Lamborghini Aventador. However, there a variety of electric options such as the Ford C Max, Nissan Leaf, Toyota EV and the Coda Electric Vehicle Sedan, made by the all-electric Coda Automotive. There are also new ideas that Assemblyman Chris Norby found energizing.
“There’s always new ideas and technology,” Norby said. “The state just recently signed a bill to allow driverless cars. It’s exciting.” Some of this new technology includes the new “Honda Lane Watch,” a camera pointed at the vehicle’s blind spot, for the new 2013 Honda Accord.
While the show’s main focus is the cars on display, also featured are some fun exhibits. Jeep offers “Camp Jeep,” a test track and ride course where attendees can be passengers with off-road experts. There are also simulated road experiences as well as test drives offered from more than 100 vehicles.
But the show doesn’t stop at presenting vehicles and exhibits. Fraternities, sororities and various organizations can take part in the “Cram the Cube” contest. Throughout the show, participants will attempt to stuff as many people as possible into a Nissan Cube to break the record to win $1,000 for their charity of choice. The current record stands at 20 people.
